232 days left...

I cannot wait.

What happens in 232 days? I will officially be retired! 20 years and 11 days of Naval service.

I'm so tired. I just want to have my life back. I'm tired of getting home from work and doing nothing because I'm too exhausted from the mental stress of my job. The job itself is easy, but the fact that out of the 15 people working for me, only about a eighth of them act like adults and do not require me to hold their hands constantly. It is totally draining.

I cannot wait to cook every night. I cannot wait to play with crafts. I cannot wait to do the things I took for granted even five years ago.

But on a different note - married life is AWESOME! It's hard to believe it's been three months since the wedding. It seems like longer, in a good way. I can't wait (I keep saying that!) to get a house to live in forever and just be us together. Sappy, I know.

Edit: I just received my official authorization to retire this morning!  Whoop!

I'm doing okay, I swear - it's been uber-busy.

It's hot here.
We're going underway...again.
I've been getting supplies ready for deployment.
My RADAR is broked. Yes, I said bro-ked.
It's still hot.
I've been up since 1:45 this morning.
I'm still getting underway today.
I can't wait to see my parents at the end of the month.
I'm really hot, tired, and I want a cigarette.

Since I've started again...

I might as well tell you that I have begun to channel Martha Stewart. I took a short respite from the Navy (a week of leave! YAY!) and decided I didn't want my bedroom to be all Asiany slash Middle Eastern any longer. I got tired of trying to find black/maroon/silver stuff without having to shop at the sports store (Go Cocks! What?!?) My bedroom is now halfway French Country Cottage. White! Eyelet! Pastels! Toile! OMG! I found a rather sturdy, if ugly brown, vanity at a local thrift store and spruced it up with about 6 coats of different colored paint along with an ivory topcoat and sufficiently distressed it. Pretty. One of these days I'll find my camera in the many post-underway dumps of laundry and extra underwear and take pics. Everything is lighter and more airy and rather girly, something I guess I've been avoiding for years. Why?

Since you've been gone

Yeah, so things have been really, really busy. Since reporting on the ship, I've gone underway for a week, and have imbibed lots and lots of alcohol. Seriously, I haven't spent any quaility time with the computer in a while. I feel so ashamed. I've actually aquired a social life, can you believe it? Go me! I know I've said this before, but I am going to make a concerted effort to update more, especially since I might even have some escapades to share. Won't that be fun?

So I've finally put my computer together and all that jazz. There are boxes everywhere in various states of unpacking goodness. I can't find a damn thing. But I wanted to stop by and say "hi" and I miss being around.

Tonight I'm flying out...finally. I got bumped from the MAC (military) flight to a commercial, which it totally cool because now I know I won't get stuck in BF military base for days on end. And I'm getting home a day early, so you know I can't complain.

Which brings me to the fact that my Mom's internet sucks even more than Bahrain. At least I have DSL here, whereas my mom has dial-up. Yuck. So it might be a while (What, Lisset not blog for a while? Say it isn't so!) before I can post again.

So with all of that said, I'll see you all on the flip side.

Well, in other news, I'll be stateside next Saturday! YAY! I'm really excited. Though things have been really busy, which you think would explain my absence. It does right? Right?

Other than me checking out and all my moving, there really hasn't been anything else. Tomorrow is the going away brunch for me and another friend leaving the same day. Normally, it's an excuse for a drunk fest, but I'm so burned out on the drinking thing. I had one beer last Friday night at the club. For the past two months, I've been "hosting" Thursday Night DART (Drinking Against Retarded Tyranny) Club and I have had more alcohol the past months than I have had in the entire two years I've been here, so I think I'm good on that front now. I've been nursing the same drink for the past four hours. Yeah, I'm loads of fun.

So see, I'm alive and physically well, if not mentally, so no worries.

Let me tell you, I feel so much better!

I've decided that I'm leaving the island on the 1st of June. A week of leave to see the parental units an get my car and I should be all set. I'm not nlooking forward the the home search though. I know nothing about Norfolk. Oh well. We'll see how it goes. Time for bed for me, because I am simply exhausted!

Life has been hella busy. All work and no play makes Lisset very, very cranky.

Okay, I'm not all that cranky. I'm actually pretty happy. Being busy makes time go by fast, an the faster I can get to June 8th, the better! That's when I fly off the island. Soon I'll be adding a countdown to the sidebar. And I need to update the Legend. As of right now, there is only one. Go figure. It's cool. No pressure, no rush.

My mom just called. My brother was in a bad motorcycle accident. He shattered his hip and the doctors are saying he may not walk ever again. My mom is leaving for New Orleans even though my brother doesn't want her there. He is so damned stubborn. Mom said she'll call once she gets there and will let me know his status. *sigh*
